6 Modifications For Beginners On The Pilates Reformer

Pilates Reformer can be intimidating and difficult for beginners, so its important to start your sessions off on the right foot by making sure youre doing the exercises properly. Here are six modifications for beginners on the Pilates Reformer so that you can get the most out of your workouts:

1. Lighten up the springs. To make the moves more comfortable, start with fewer springs attached to the reformer. This will make the reformer easier to push against and will lessen the difficulty of the moves.  However remember for some things a lighter spring can make it more difficult too.

2. Start with small, slow movements. Slow and controlled movements will help the beginner become familiar with the Pilates Reformer, maximise the benefits of your workout, and reduce the chance of injury.

3. Focus on form. Proper form is essential on the Pilates Reformer and incorrect form will not yield the desired results. Make sure to concentrate on alignment, muscles being pressed into the machine, and keep your mind focused on the core.

 4. Take your time. Dont rush it - a rushed practice can lead to injury, so understand that it is okay to move slowly at first. Also, make sure to rest in between sets to replenish energy and increase the body's ability to move properly.

5. Utilise props. Props like blocks and straps can help beginners on the Pilates Reformer learn the correct alignment and increase body awareness.

6. Use the length of the springs. Adjusting the length of the springs is an important concept for everyone, particularly beginners. This can be done to increase resistance, challenge posture and alignment, and show how the body moves differently when done correctly.

Using these modifications for beginners on the Pilates Reformer will help maximise productivity during your workout. After some practice, you will see an improvement in your strength, flexibility, and stability.
