Why ingrown toenail happen

An ingrown toenail is an incredibly common and painful condition caused by a nail growing into the soft skin of the toe. This condition is caused when your toe nail begins to curve out and then grows into the surrounding skin.

This is often a result of improperly cut nails, wearing ill-fitting shoes, or frequently picking at or pulling the nail.   Improper nail care can be one of the main causes of an ingrown toenail. If youre trimming your nails too far down, or not trimming them enough, it may cause them to become ingrown.

Additionally, if youre trimming them at an angle, youre more prone to this problem. Improperly fitting shoes are also a main cause of an ingrown toenail. If youre wearing shoes that are too tight or narrow, it can put unwanted pressure on your toes and cause the nail to become ingrown. Wearing shoes that are too small can also cause this condition as well as wearing shoes that dont fit properly such as high heels.

Regarding picking and pulling your nail, this too can result in an ingrown toenail. While it may feel like the right thing to do to remove the extra nail, it can actually cause damage and increase your chances of the nail becoming ingrown.

During the growth process, it is vital to keep your nails trimmed properly and to wear shoes that fit well to prevent the condition.

In conclusion, ingrown toenails are mostly caused by improper nail care, ill-fitting shoes, and picking at the nail often. It is important to take proper measures such as routinely trimming your nails and wearing shoes that fit well to prevent the occurrence of an ingrown toenail.
